The Capitol's Age Pyramid: A Graying Congress

The 111th Congress, which convened in 2009, is among the oldest in U.S. history. The average age of members of Congress has risen steadily since 1981, with just a slight hiccup in the early 1990s; the rise is likely the result of a high incumbency rate, the aging of the U.S. population, and the first-time elections of older candidates. [My] Grapheme Synæsthesia

This infographic created by Neal Coghlan - Designer & Animator from London, United Kingdom based on the guide to harmonic mixing (a handy tool for DJs) and his own grapheme synæsthesia.

The way that this wheel works is based on song keys, and which keys work well with others. Keys next to or below/above another will work well with each other, and jumping clockwise in the wheel will give a sort of 'boost' to the feel of the music.

Microsoft Acquisitions and Investments

Showing the acquisitions and investments of Microsoft, done as a tube map with each coloured line representing a different industry for each acquisition or investment.  Where the stations meet is where the two industries overlap.  The key at the bottom displays information about the location on the map of the station (company) the year of acquisition or investment.

Created by breaking the companies down by industry and then building out the map from where companies operating within the same industries crossed over.

Public opinion on gay marriage

The debate over gay marriage is at the heart of many races in America's mid-term elections. For the first time since the Pew Research Centre began conducting polls on the subject in 1995, fewer than half of Americans (48%) are opposed to gay marriage, while 42% are in favour. All religious groups are more accepting than they were in polls taken between 2008 and 2009.
